What is Weatherization?
The goal of the Weatherization Assistance Program is to help relieve the burden of high energy bills on our clients while improving the comfort and safety of their homes.
OlyCAP uses local and federal grants to provide free energy efficiency improvements to Clallam and Jefferson county households who meet current low-income guidelines. Eligibility varies by income type, household size, and other factors. Please contact us and tell us about your situation. You can apply for assistance whether you own or rent, and we serve both site-built and mobile homes.
What Can I Expect?
After we receive your application and you are determined to qualify, we will contact you to set up a home visit. An energy auditor certified by the Building Performance Institute will perform a thorough assessment of your home and develop an appropriate scope of work.
typical weatherization improvements may include:
Insulating attics, floors, walls, and exposed water heaters & water supply lines
Sealing and insulating exposed heat ducts
Sealing drafts throughout the home
Providing whole-building ventilation to keep air quality high
Protecting insulation measures through minor repairs*
Tuning up or repairing the heating system
*Be aware that the weatherization program does not have funding to perform major home repairs. While we are able to do minor repairs to protect the work we've installed, larger, more involved repairs are outside the scope of our funding.
How Do I Apply?
To verify your household's eligibility we will need you to complete an application form as well as provide some supporting documentation including proof of income, photo identification, and owner/renter information. (If you or a household member has applied for LIHEAP or other OlyCAP services in the past year, you may already be eligible for Weatherization. Contact us for more information!)
You can download our application packet using the links below. To expedite service, please make sure to include all applicable information listed on the enclosed Required Documents Checklist. We cannot process incomplete applications, so be sure to let us know if you have any questions about the required documents.
Alternatively, contact us with the form below or call us and we will mail you the application packet. Let us know if you own or rent the home. If you are a property owner interested in weatherizing a rental property on behalf of a low-income tenant, please contact us for more information.
